You have guessed correctly if you said the middle yarn came is a different dye lot. The skeins on the end were recently purchased. Do you think anyone will notice?

I don't think it's noticeable - that's a good thing of variegated yarns. You can always knit from two skeins at the same time, alternative every two rows.
